Viktoria Rebensburg Wins Giant Slalom in Killington (Vermont)
Viktoria Rebensburg domination in this year’s Giant Slalom events continues and claimed the top step on the podium today in Killington. The win for Rebensburg came four weeks after she won the GS in the first race of the World Cup season in Sölden, Austria. She finished 0.67 seconds ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin and 1.49 ahead of Manuela Moelgg. Today's victory is the 15th World Cup Win (13 in GS) after 205 starts.
The race began with a moment of silence for David Poisson, the French skier who was killed while training in Canada on November 13.
Rebensburg held a slimmer lead over Shiffrin after the first run as dark clouds rolled in and a light rain started to fall. The German surprised even herself on the second run by battling to the finish line for the 15th World Cup win of her career. Shiffrin was able to appease the crowd with an impressive run of her own, landing solidly in second for the day. Moelgg was once again thrilled to make a podium appearance.
