Anna Fenninger Takes Third Consecutive World Cup GS Victory in Are

Austrian Anna Fenninger stormed to her second giant slalom victory in two days in the famed Scandinavian ski resort. After winning the opening run, she didn't let anyone the chance to overtake her in the second run. Fenninger finished in a combined time of 2:00.15, with Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg ending up in second place, 0.61 seconds behind. Sweden's Jessica Lindell-Vikarby rounded out the podium, 0.68 seconds off the pace in front of hundreds of cheering fans.
With such an achievement, Anna Fenninger now takes the lead in the overall standings. Maria Höfl-Riesch is 7 points behind, after finishing 10th tonight.
"I just feel comfortable on my skis and try to go fast as I can and not to think about anything else but skiing", a smiling Fenninger said at the press conference. "I don't know why I'm so fast to be honest. It feels really good to be in such a good shape and that it is working out that way (...) I was a bit nervous to be the first one to face the course in the first run. It's never easy to know how to attack the course. I won the race in the bottom section yesterday, so did I today. It's just amazing".
Viktoria Rebensuberg is getting back to her best level. It started with her bronze Medal in Sochi giant slalom. "I've had a tough season, with ups and downs. I was sick for almost two months. I couldn't train in November and December. The podium tonight makes me very happy", the German confessed. "I tried to be more aggressive than yesterday and to make the right adjustments. I actually wasn't that happy about my second run, I didn't feel I was fast. To see the green line after crossing the line was great".
