Despite relatively warm temperatures the track held up quite well allowing the 59 athletes to have a regular and fair race on the technical Kalberloch course.
Starting with bib number 28, Elisabeth Goergl performed a mistake-free run to race to her first victory within the last two years.
"I had a blast on the piste today and it's just great it ends up with a victory", commented the 32-year-old. "Last year was a touch one, it's quite a relief to experience that feeling again".
Anna Fenninger got her sixth podium of the season. "I'm really happy with the second place", she said at the press conference. "I knew Lisi could perform today. She was strong in training. I made some small mistakes in the top section, but I clearly lost time in the last section where my line was too wide".
Höfl-Riesch increases her lead in the downhill standings. She has now 325 points, 34 more than Switzerland's Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden. With today's result however, Fenninger gained 20 points on Riesch and takes the lead in the overall standings, with 677 points whith the German only 6 points behind.
"Even if I lost the lead in the overall today, it stays tight and I don't really worry about it now. There are so many races still to come. The aim is to stay focused and do my best in the next race and only at the end of the season we will see who gets the globe", Höfl-Riesch concluded.
