Nissan Outdoor Games in Chamonix

From Friday 20 February to Saturday 21 February 5 teams with the top athletes representing the extreme sports of skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, speed-riding and BASE-jumping will be in Chamonix to dispute the Nissan Outdoor Games film and photo competition. For the second time the Outdoor Games happen in the amazing scenery of the Mont Blanc region during the winter season. One of a kind, this event brings together athletic performance and a creative and artistic dimension to a film and photography festival. Following the growing success of the Nissan Outdoor Games, it has become THE event at the core of today's action sports world.
For seven days preceding the event (from Saturday February 14th to Friday February 20th, 6pm), as a prelude to this fantastic alpine show, the winter games will host 5 teams comprised of athletes, production companies, professional cameramen and photographers from all over Europe and North America. Their challenge: shooting and editing 20 pictures and a short film, which according to the rules, must be no longer than 5 minutes including a sequence of BASE jumping, paragliding, mountaineering, skiing and snowboarding.
A professional jury, comprised of professional movie makers, photographers and sports personalities, elects the winner of the Golden Peak' Award. On Saturday night, downtown Chamonix, the films and the photos are shown to the public on a giant screen. Together with the Golden Peak Trophy three other awards will be given: Jury's Special Award, Best Sports Sequence and Best Photographer.
Along with the official programme many other Activities will be offered: ice climbing initiation, mountain security clinics, games of balance (slackline), aerial shows (acrobatic paragliding and wingsuit flying) at the Aiguille du Midi (Saturday February 21st in the morning) and at the Grands-Montets (Saturday February 21st in the afternoon), live concerts in the Nissan Outdoor Games village, autograph signing sessions and partner stands. Many occasions to meet the athletes, get a rush of adrenaline and see amazing performances with the Mont Blanc as the breathtaking backdrop.
