Internationaler Matterhonlauf

Today Sunday 24th Zermatt will host the 26th edition of the Internationaler Matterhonlauf. The race course starts in Zermatt at the train station place "Bahnhofplatz" (1,620 metres) and ends at Schwarzsee (2,583 metres), covering a distance of 12.49 kilometres and an altitude difference of 1,001 metres. The route of "Matterhornlauf" goes through the most beautiful and natural
landscapes of Switzerland at the foot of the Matterhorn, surrounded by an incredible scenery of mountains and glaciers. The main sponsor of the race is Zermatt Bergbahnen, the largest aerial cableway company in Switzerland. The competition is open for everybody within three categories: runners, popular race and Nordic Walking (the runners race will start at 09:30 am). Additional to the individual Matterhorn race, there is also a Team Race. The teams consisting of 4 runners maximum and 3 runners minimum can be put together out of every category, however, team members must be of the same nationality. The fastest 3 runners of the team will be admited to the rating.
